I like this butter it goes on nice & provides a little moisture. My hair is thick so I need something a little thicker but will use for my daughter's hair. Smells good too.

NOT BUTTER!
Written by Naomi on 9th Dec 2015

I have ordered this a few times and loved it. I knew there was an ingredient change, however I too was extremely dissapointed as well when I received my purchase . I wish I would have seen Pat Epps review (below) before I ordered this. I NEEDED a butter!! It is light and thin. Waste of money , especially during the holidays, now I have to spend money I really don't have to go buy a true butter.

CONSISTENCY IS OF A LIGHT, THIN LOTION, NOT A BUTTER
Written by Pat Epps on 26th Oct 2015

I'm writing this review so that future purchasers of this product do are not disappointed as I was when I opened the jar. The consistency is similar to that of a light lotion, not a butter. I don't know why it sold in jars when it would be better served in a bottle with a flip cap or pump. When I applied it to my hair, it's so light and inconsequential that it feels as if nothing had been done. I was staring at my hair in the mirror in disbelief. It went on and,...did absolutely nothing. I didn’t feel anything, I didn’t see anything and it didn’t do anything. Given the ingredient list and the youtube reviews I watched prior to purchasing this product, I was expecting to receive a butter-like product. I am so, so disappointed with both its consistency and performance.

Liked It Better As A Whipped Butter!!
Written by Farah on 10th Aug 2015

My first jar of Double Dutch Hair Yum was super dense and hard to get out of the jar like Play-Doh . It smelled lovely but required a bit of elbow grease to Emulsify. My second and now favorite jar was like a TRUE WHIPPED BUTTER; rich, thick, smooth, fluffy and velvety soft. It smelled just a nice as the first but it was much easier to work with and extremely moisturizing. My most recent jar is more of a cream than a whipped butter. It's similar in consistency to Marula Muru and Knot Butta, though not as thick. It still smells lovely but I prefer the consistency of the second jar better. It was unlike any of your other products, but just as good. I NEED me some whipped Hair Yum in my life, STAT!!

Big issue with the consistency
Written by Makaja on 29th May 2015

I really like this product, but I have a big issue with the constant changing of the consistency. I have three jars of this product & the consistency is different in each jar. The first jar I received had to have been old, it was liquid sitting in the bottom, cracks in the top & no fragrance! I sent it back to receive another jar that was a hard butter, have to scrap/dig out & really rub into hands to melt/apply to hair. Second jar I purchased out of a store & the consistency was the same as its knot butta, which I liked much better, easier to apply. This jar smelled much better also. The third jar was shipped by mistake but was the best of the three. It's a firm butter that spreads easily & smells wonderful! They all are moisturizing & definitely soften the hair, but the hardest one definitely weighs the hair down more than the other two, which is fine for when I am cornrowing my daughters hair only. I use the other two for just about everything (two strand twist, flat twist, twist out, etc.)

awesome!
Written by undefined on 12th Jan 2015

This product deserves more recognition! Even though it says it's for kids it's great for adults as well. It has the same smooth, creamy consistency as the knot butta but it's thicker. It's very moisturizing as well and smells like lemon cake. Please don't stop making this product!

Amazing!
Written by MeMe on 4th Aug 2014

I love this hair butter even though it's apart of the kiddies line. True butter in consistency but one thing I noticed about this butter compared to other hair brands is the amazing consistency. It's like a thickly packed frosting but it's super duper moisturizing. I can't explain it but it's really a delightful treat for the hair. I've used this to put twists in my hair and as a sealant. You guys have to try this underneath the knot butta. Moisture for dayyyys! Ah--mazing!

Non-greasy moisture
Written by HENDRIS GRENIER on 20th Jul 2014

I believe this product influenced my son's decision to grow out his hair. This keeps his hair moisturized throughout the day and doesn't leave a grease-ring on the collar of his uniform shirts! THANKS for creating this lightweight moisturizer!

Combo of Wonderful Butters!
Written by SunniJ on 7th Apr 2014

I purchased this for my 5yr old niece. She never received it. So, I will be reordering this product for her...It's a great mix of all the butters I love and use in my mixes all the time.

Yummy
Written by undefined on 1st Apr 2014

I recently purchased this item and the Marula Muru. I love the Marula Muru & will be placing another order before the weekend. I lije this item alot. I do have to dig it out of the container-consistency more pastey, crumbly than butter like-but it emulsifies well and my hair is silky &soft usibg this in top of the MM. This will last me a few months. Very pleased with my purchase.

Thought wrong
Written by Crys on 2nd Mar 2014

Was very surprised by the texture and consistency when I opened the jar. I have to scoop it out then rub it my hands in order to put it my sons hair. It takes too much time to do this in order to cover his whole head. I had high hopes.

love it
Written by undefined on 29th Aug 2013

I love this stuff the consistency is like a butter/cream its very moisturizing..i used it on my little cousin hair and my hair and I love the moisture it gave.. also the smell is intoxicating. I prefer this moisturizer than the ones in the adult line. the ones in the adult like texture feels very slippery. will repurchase again.

Okay...Softens...But too heavy.
Written by Esquida on 24th Aug 2013

My review is based on the consensus (40 to 50) of the naturalistas in my circle (as we come together on a regular basis to fellowship and share / test hair / skincare products as well as share our long term experiences with the same). While we all test products differently (I always start with freshly washed and air dried hair with no leave in conditioners as I like to see how a product will perform and how my hair will respond without the addition of any other products...If I am testing multiple products, I part my hair in sections and document what I have used where), we felt that Double Dutch was too greasy / oily – on dry hair as well as hair lightly spritzed with water. While it did soften, after a few hours it still felt heavy / tacky. One sister did note that the taste was not too bad (LOL...We always test butter / oil based products to see if they can serve double duty) and thought that it would be a good base for a lip scrub if it was scented with essential oils instead of fragrance oils...She plans to add a few drops of lemon, tangerine or grapefruit organic essential oil and fine grain organic sugar to test it out. She said the idea came to her because she had recently purchased a crappy lip scrub at a natural hair expo. Since the Double Dutch has a yummy tropical aroma, she thinks that she can work with it and have a lip scrub that actually scrubs…and the weight of the product will leave a nice coating on the lips after rinsing. My guess would be that if your hair is highly porous, this product may work better for your hair than it did for most of us.

No Shea Butter!
Written by undefined on 29th Jul 2013

Nice, moisturizing sealant. I don't usually use butters in my hair because they just sit on top of my hair, but this one absorbed well I suppose because it contains other butters rather than shea butter. It feels kind of silky in your hands and made my hair super soft. It does smell very yummy.
